Requiring ever greater powers of magnification
The sea of memories wash towards the horizon
Where vivid images reused, decay into their simple essence
No lens will now retrieve
What once we could so easily conceive
Here, as thin as air they continue upwards
Filaments entangled more and more
Eventually dissolving into one another
To become so insubstantial
That it is only by a single strand they can be traversed
No longer as conscious qualifiers but unknown weights
Often disputed for validity
Whether it was ever part of us or not
Until finally it escapes the earth
Where counting time slips in circles
And infinity wraps it up
